Andrea Duranti Martinez
I am a queer Colombian immigrant, first generation college graduate trained as a social worker in Bogotá, and am currently pursuing my MSW at the Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work. I am interested in providing a safe space for queer and trans, BIPOC and immigrants grounded in understanding the interrelationships between diverse identities, interlocking systems of violence, and mental health.
I recognize that each person is the expert of their own life and can find resilience alongside the challenges they have experienced. I believe in an intersectional therapeutic approach and engaging different therapeutic tools depending on each person’s reality and needs. I am committed to empower folks though their identities, and work with people who are facing depression, anxiety, trauma, identity, gender and sexuality, as well as people interested in exploring different relationship dynamics such as non-monogamy and polyamory.
