Found Inspiration – Grace Lee Boggs
Found Inspiration is a series inspired by a prompt at the start of our meetings where we invite therapists to share an unconventional not explicitly therapy-related influence on their clinical practice. We’ve found that when your experiences aren’t reflected in academic settings and literature, and when you expand your understanding of mental health care beyond a medical model to one of healing, meaning-making and connection, you have to build your own canon.
Grace Lee Boggs was a visionary activist and philosopher who embraced a philosophy of community, solidarity and service – believing that lasting social change happens not through large revolutions, but through local acts and collective action. Boggs’ commitment to lifelong learning and growth inspires us to continually interrogate systems of oppression within our society and within ourselves. We embrace love as a radical force for change, supporting each other in cultivating resilience, and interconnectedness with communities.
