Found Inspiration – The Outdoors

Found Inspiration is a series inspired by a prompt at the start of our meetings where we invite therapists to share an unconventional not explicitly therapy-related influence on their clinical practice. We’ve found that when your experiences aren’t reflected in academic settings and literature, and when you expand your understanding of mental health care beyond a medical model to one of healing, meaning-making and connection, you have to build your own canon.

We outside! The great outdoors are a profound source of re/connection, joy and inspiration for many of us at MCM Collaborative. We also recognize that being outside or in public can be an unwelcoming, violent place for many in marginalized bodies, the natural world has also been a place of nourishment, freedom and abundance. We bring an understanding of the complexities of our relationship to the more than human world into our clinical practice, inviting clients to explore their connection to self, their bodies AND place.
