I operate on the belief that the more connected we are to our inner world, the better and more authentically we are able to navigate our own life trajectories. In my work, I strive to bring a strengths-based, trauma-informed, culturally attuned collaborative approach. I wish to learn about you in your own words and do so in a space where you can feel safe and free to say, or not say, what comes to mind.
As a gay Vietnamese man, I am especially passionate about supporting individuals navigating questions of identity, intergenerational trauma and belonging – including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), immigrants and LGBTQ+ communities. Being an international student in the United States myself, I understand the impermanent nature of our “status” and the struggles that come with it. Therefore, having recognized the inherently Western origins of psychotherapy, I am committed to adapting my practice to better honor the cultural backgrounds and emotional needs of the clients I serve.
As a psychotherapist-in-training, I aim to foster a collaborative space built on humility and openness, growing alongside my clients with each interaction. I am not one with all the answers, rather, I believe that each person holds their own wisdom, and my role is to walk with them as they access it. I strongly support the notion that growth and healing are found in human connection. This is what excites me the most about beginning this journey – the privilege of witnessing people at their most honest and vulnerable, as well as the opportunity to co-create new narratives of strength, survival, and possibility.
As a bonus, if you are looking for someone who possesses an appropriate amount of humor, I believe we could work very well together.
