FOOD, FREEDOM & FIRSTS – a support group for BIPOC undergrads
“Food, Freedom, and Firsts” is a six-week virtual process group for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) undergraduate students navigating the challenges of living independently for the first time. This affirming space encourages participants to reflect on their relationship with food, emotional well-being, and autonomy through open dialogue and mutual support. The group explores themes of identity, cultural expectations, and personal growth, empowering members to build sustainable routines and deepen self-awareness.
Participants can expect a supportive and inclusive environment where they can share their stories, process emotional challenges, and reflect on how food, independence, and cultural identity intersect. The group offers tools for building sustainable routines, managing emotional triggers, and fostering self-compassion, all while creating a sense of community with fellow BIPOC students experiencing similar life transitions.
This group is co-facilitated by Aayushi Gala & Taryn Crosby, LCSW and will take place on Mondays at noon or Tuesday evenings. The investment is $25/session, some sliding scale is available. To schedule an intake, go to https://bit.ly/FoodFreedom2025
